For round two of Out of the Blue's blog street scene I decided to head to The Forks on Boxing Day to see who skipped out on all the crazy deals and mass amounts of people. I was pleasantly surprised to find many people out with their families spending time on the river trail, drinking coffee, wandering what was open in the markets or just hanging out. The weather wasn't unbearable if you were wearing a warm coat and a good set of mitts, long johns and wool socks, Canadian essentials. I met Hailey Grey, a born and raised Winnipeger visiting from Montreal, on her way for the first skate of the season. Everyone has their holiday favourites that they can't go without, whether it be jam-jams (my personal fave), butter tarts, turkey stuffing or all the mass amounts of alcoholic beverages, so I asked Hailey to share hers.
Most Desired Drink: Hot Toddies are a must to keep you warm, plus if there is tea in it it's not that bad for you right?
Baking Necessity: Shortbread cookies are a staple. Who doesn't love a good shortbread cookie.
Dinner Dish: Perogies are eaten daily over the holidays.
